This weekend was incredible. And it ends tonight. I just have to express how lovely it was before the feelings elude me.
Traveling back home is always a joy, but more so when the reason for it is the grand occasion of your grandparents’ celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. It was one of the most beautiful and loving celebrations I have ever attended and I feel so blessed that I was able to be a witness to the testimony of love the two of them share. It is all summed up in the 50th anniversary of their first dance - a couple in love (still very much those awkward, dorky teens with two left feet as they were half a century ago) sharing a gaze and an embrace that brought everyone to tears, as though it was the first time they had ever held each other. That even 50 years, 11 kids and 19 grandchildren later, they are happy.
Never have I felt so much pride in being their granddaughter, never have I felt more hope for what love can be.
Thank you, abuelitos!
